Argelander Career Day
The Broad Spectrum of Bonn's Science Scape

Current Notice

The next Argelander Career Day on the topic “The Broad Spectrum of Bonn’s Science Scape”, organized by the HR team at the University of Bonn in cooperation with the Staff Unit for the Bonn Research Alliance (BORA), is expected to take place in the first half of 2027.

The Broad Spectrum of Bonn's Science Scape

The Argelander Career Day (formerly the Postdoc Day) takes place annually. Every two years, it is organized by the Human Resource Development team of the University of Bonn as part of the Argelander Program, in cooperation with the staff unit for the Bonn Research Alliance (BORA), on the topic “The Broad Spectrum of Bonn’s Science Scape”, with the participation of numerous BORA institutions. In addition, central service units of the university and funding institutions in Bonn are involved.

In the intervening years, the focus of the Argelander Career Days is on exchange between Early Career Researchers and partners outside academia, for example from industry — particularly with research-intensive companies. This format is offered in cooperation between the Human Resource Development Team and the Bonn Graduate Center (BGZ).

Bonn Research Landscape

The German research landscape includes a broad variety of research institutions. From universities, universities of applied sciences, technical universities, universities of music and the arts to non-university research institutions, federal and state research institutions and research-based industry. A scientific education (doctorate) can therefore lead to many career paths, depending on the contribution one wishes to make to society and to the cultivation of knowledge through research.

The Argelander Career Day is an unique opportunity to get to know the work at local research institutions belonging to the nationally funded research organizations and think tanks.
